Creating Powerful Self Tapes with Greg Bryk

In this four hour workshop with guest instructor Greg Bryk, we will explore dynamic techniques in emotional preparation, self direction, grounding yourself with physical objects, making the audition "moment" matter, and crossing the Zoom barrier.  Our goal is to make strong acting choices and to create compelling work in the challenging new world of self tape auditions.

Greg Bryk

Greg Bryk is one of Canada’s most compelling actors, with starring roles in over 110 films, television shows and video games.  Greg earned a B.A.H in Drama at Queen’s University where he took to the stage for the first time as Hamlet which ignited his life long passion for acting. He then furthered his training at Circle In The Square Theatre School in New York before joining the inaugural Stratford Conservatory at the Stratford Festival.

 

Some of Bryk’s award-winning and more memorable roles include his work in the films History of Violence, Poor Boys Game, Deadliest Sea, Code 8, and My Spy. Television credits include the harrowing CBC/BET mini-series The Book of Negroes, the critically acclaimed Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale, JETT for HBO/Cinemax; SyFy’s Bitten, Wynonna Earp, and The Expanse; CBC’s Caught; Global’s Mary Kills People, as well as Frontier and V Wars for Netflix.  Bryk also lent his talents and his likeness to the iconic villain Joseph “The Father” Seed in the all-time best-selling Ubisoft produced video game Far Cry 5.

 

Other credits include The Wilds for Amazon, Departure for Global/Peacock, the Disney+ original film Secret Society of Second Born Royals, the Cannes Frontieres selected werewolf thriller Bloodthirsty and Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol for Peacock.

 

Bryk’s latest projects include Law & Order: Toronto, the indie comedy Racewalkers and the action thriller Jinn and the Wild Dog. Greg will begin shooting By the Roots in San Francisco as well as Reacher for Amazon and Alert for Fox this spring.

 

Greg coaches a number of talented young actors and also created an actor training/ mentoring program for at-risk youth in the St. Jamestown/Regent Park neighbourhoods which ran for a number of years. In addition to his work on film and coaching actors, Greg does corporate workshops and delivers keynote speeches based on his TEDX Talk and the material explored in his upcoming book ACT THE PART: Acting Techniques To Successfully Play Every Role In Your Life.

 

Greg splits his time between his houses in Toronto and Hudson, NY with his wife of 28 years Danielle Nicholas Bryk and whichever of their three actor children happen to be passing through at the moment.
